This is a common call we get and most of the time it is due to the lights being in the high beam position.
In a Toyota the right hand stick/lever/wand controls your indicators and lights. To turn the lights on you twist the end into the appropriate position:
Headlight off:
Park lights (very dim) used so people can see your vehicle:
Headlights on:
For driving at night in urban areas. If in this last position the lights are very bright (high beam) it is because the stick/lever/wand has been pushed forward. This engages high beam and is indicated by this light illuminating on the dash:
Pull the stick/lever/wand towards yourself while the lights are on to turn off the high beam function. You will know it is off because the above light goes away. Now your lights are still on and are bright enough for normal driving at night in urban areas and not too bright for oncoming traffic!
