To operate the water in your campervan the 12v isolation switch must be "on" as well as the wash switch (water pump). Then you can open the tap by lifting the handle. All things going to plan you will have running water! Please ensure the wash switch is turned off when the tap is not in use. This will reduce unwanted noise and place less stress on the water system.
If your water is still not working let's go through some troubleshooting.
Ensure you try the handle in both directions - It depends on whether the tap was connected to the hot or cold side of the tap. Note: either way it will still only be cold water.
The next question to answer is whether you can hear the pump operating when you open the tap? If you can hear the pump working it has power and the most common problem is an air-lock. If you can not it is highly likely your water pump does not have power and the most common problem is a blown fuse.
Removing an air lock
It is quite common for air to be stuck in the pipe and for it to stop the water flowing consistently. To clear the air lock fill the water tank and at the same time turn the water pump on and open the tap. This will force the water through to your tap and clear out the air. It is good practice to do this every time you fill your tank as the most common time for the air to enter the system is when the water runs out.
Checking for a blown fuse
Next to your house battery is a box with four fuses. If you are lucky they are labelled! If not you will need to go through them one by one. A fuse is used for the protection of the power system. It will be the first part to break if there has been a momentary surge in power. Thankfully it is also an easy part to replace! Check the water pump fuse by removing it and holding it to the light. If the fuse has blown the metal wire inside will be broken. If it is broken replace this fuse and your water pump should work again. You can buy new fuse (10amp) from a petrol station or hardware store. They are very cheap. Please keep a tax receipt of the purchase and we will refund you. In the short term you can exchange the fuse from an item you are not using such as the USB charger.
