12V Power Not Working – Checking & Replacing the Fuse (Toyota HiAce)
Overview
If the 12V socket in your Toyota HiAce suddenly stops working, it is usually caused by the device plugged into it overloading the system, which blows the fuse.
The good news: this is a quick and easy fix you can do yourself.
1. Locate the Fuse Box
Go to the passenger side of the vehicle.
Look underneath the dashboard area.
You will see a small fuse box cover.
Pull the cover off to access the fuse panel.
2. Identify the Correct Fuse
You need to check the fuse labelled “CIG / ACCESSORY.”
This is a 15-amp micro fuse
It is located eight positions along the top row of the fuse panel
Refer to the diagram inside the fuse box cover if needed.
3. Remove the Fuse
Count eight fuses along the top row.
Use pliers or tweezers to carefully pull the fuse out.
Do not force it — it should pull out with light pressure.
4. Inspect the Fuse
Look closely at the metal strip inside the fuse:
If the metal strip is intact
→ the fuse is fineIf there is a gap or the metal looks broken/burnt
→ the fuse is blown and must be replaced
A blown fuse is the usual reason your 12V socket stops working.
5. Replace the Fuse
If the fuse is blown:
Go to any service station, hardware store, or auto parts shop.
Purchase a 15-amp micro fuse (make sure it matches the removed one).
Push the new fuse into the same slot — eight along the top row.
Replace the fuse box cover.
Once replaced, your 12V socket should be working again.
If the Power Still Doesn’t Work
If replacing the fuse does not fix the issue:
Check that your device is functioning correctly
Ensure no metal objects or adapters are stuck in the socket
Try a different device
