Mice and insects can get into any campervan, especially when you are camping in rural areas. A few simple habits make a big difference.
Tips to keep pests out
- Keep food in sealed containers or in the fridge.
- Wipe up crumbs and take your rubbish out each day.
- Keep doors and windows closed when you are not using them, especially at dusk and overnight.
- Do not leave food or rubbish outside the van.
- Put a few drops of peppermint or clove oil on cotton balls and place them in cupboards. Mice do not like the smell.
If you find signs of a mouse
- Remove any food it could reach.
- Set mouse traps in the cupboards and living area. You can buy these from most supermarkets or hardware stores.
- Keep your receipts and send them to Customer Care for review.
If you think a snake is in or near the van
Your safety comes first. Get everyone out of the van and do not try to catch or move the snake. Open the doors, then check inside the cabin, the living area and under the van from a safe distance outside. If you see a snake or are unsure, stay away from the van and contact Customer Care.
