Do you have a flat tyre?
This article applies to campervans in Australia and New Zealand. If you are renting a campervan in the USA, please refer to your in-vehicle manual.
Flat tyres are unfortunately part of driving any vehicle. No reason to panic though! Watch the video below to learn how to do it yourself. If you are not confident or you are unable to change the tyre, contact us for Roadside Assistance*.
Your spare tyre and tools are located:
For Toyota Hiace campervans (AU/NZ) - tools are under the side step (sliding door entrance), spare tyre is under the vehicle, locate the nut at the back of the cabin, under the side seat (passenger side) and lower using your tools.
For Ford Falcon station wagons (AU only) - tools are in a compartment at the back (inside wall) near the left side tail light, spare tyre is in the boot under the carpet.
For Toyota Estima station wagons (NZ only) - tools are in a compartment at the back (inside wall) near the left side tail light, spare tyre is under the vehicle towards the passengers side. To lower spare tyre, lift carpet in the boot and use the tools to loosen the nut.
Changing the Tyre
Watch the basic tyre changing video tutorial below:
After you change the tyre
It is important that you repair or replace the damaged tyre as soon as possible in case you experience another flat during your trip.
Contact our friendly Customer Care team during business hours so we can help you organise a repair or replacement of your tyre at a location convenient to you.
Please note: Tyre repair/replacements are not covered on Standard Protection ($3000 bond). If you chose Protection Plus or Tyre Waiver, you are covered for up to 2 tyre repair/replacements.
*In Australia: In remote areas, Roadside Assistance might charge a call out fee for tyre changes, which Travellers Autobarn does not cover. In New Zealand: All tyre changes will incur a $165 call out fee (charged by Roadside Assistance) not covered by Travellers Autobarn.
