How serious is it?
The first thing you should notice is the colour of the light. Is it orange? This means - it’s a suggestion or a watch out for a potential problem. If the light is red, this means - attend to the problem immediately. If need be, pull over when it is safe to do so and call Travellers Autobarn so we can give you advice or better explain what the warning light means. Security indicator
The vehicles keys have built in transponder chips that allow the engine to start. There is no concern if this light is flashing.
Check engine light
If you have the check engine light come on your dash it is not a critical problem and you can continue to drive the vehicle however you should call us as soon as possible to advise us that this light is on. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Charging system warning light
If the battery warning light comes on this indicates a malfunction in the vehicles charging system (alternator). You should stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so and contact us. If you continue to drive the vehicle will eventually stop running (and without further warning). Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Low engine oil level warning light
This light indicates that the oil level is low. Check the level of the engine oil and add more oil if necessary. Please follow this GUIDE for filling engine oil. If this happens more than once during your trip you should contact us. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Low engine oil pressure warning light
Indicates that the engine oil pressure is too low. This is a critical problem and you should immediately look to safely stop the vehicle. Further driving may cause catastrophic damage to the engine. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page. We will organise Roadside Assistance for you.
Brake system warning light
This light indicates that the parking brake (hand brake) is engaged and the light will turn off after you have disengaged it. If this light comes on during normal driving it is either due to low brake fluid or a malfunction in the brake system. If this warning light illuminates during normal driving you should stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so and contact us. Our contact details are at the bottom of this page.
"ABS" warning light
This light indicates a malfunction in the ABS or brake assist system. You still have brakes (check!) and can continue to drive the vehicle however you should call us as soon as possible to advise us that this light is on. We will arrange for a mechanical inspection. SRS warning light
This light indicates a malfunction in the SRS airbag system or the seat belt pretensioner system. You can continue to drive however you should call us as soon as possible to advise us that this light is on. We will arrange for a mechanical inspection.
